Obituary for Ruby Hensley Lewis

Ruby Hensley Lewis, 82, of Marshall, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, March 19, 2017.

Ruby was born February 17, 1935 in Letcher County, KY, to her late parents, Elever and Della Norton Hensley but had lived in Madison County all of her life. She retired from Mars Hill Elementary School cafeteria, enjoyed gardening and quilting, loved the Lord and going to church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Tom Lewis; brothers, Ashel, Harvey, Arnold, Harley, and Ralph; sisters, Evie, Doris Burrell (Truman); Zora Holland (Harry), Robbie Johnson (Junior); and brother in-laws, Welzie V. Lewis (Flossie) and Harold Lewis.

She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Arwood (Denver); brother, Olen Hensley (Faye); sister, Eula Hensley; sister in-law, Rita Lewis; brother in-law, Lewis Blevins; several nieces and nephews; and special friend Lynda Cogdill and family.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 23, 2017 in the Chapel of Madison Funeral Services with Reverends Ken Parker and Larry Sprouse officiating. Pallbearers will be, Harvey Johnson, Daniel Holland, J.C. Coates, Dewey Arwood, Ronald Arrington and Jimmy Moore. Burial will follow in Shelton Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 6 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Madison Health and Rehab and Carepartners Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Mrs. Lewis.
