Obituary for Keith Goforth

Keith Goforth, 58, of 740 Lonesome Mountain Road, was a faithful courageous soldier of the Lord who entered into Gloryland on Sunday, April 8, 2018 after a long battle with Lewy Body Disease.

He was born on March 5, 1960 to the late Frederick and Lillie Chandler Goforth during a huge snowstorm. A fun loving tenderhearted boy, he grew up in Madison County on the farm his ancestors had lived on for generations. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and was always the cut up and prankster. He was a loving husband, Daddy, Poppy, Son, brother, uncle and friend who wanted everyone to join him in heaven. Keith was a hard worker who lovingly provided for his family, having been employed by Norfolk Southern Railroad and Silverline Plastics. A devoted member of Big Laurel Baptist Church, he was a faithful man of God sharing the love of Jesus Christ with everyone he met.

Left here to one day be reunited with him again are his loving wife of 39 years, Peggy Worley Goforth, his two children Joshua and Sarah, and his favorite son in law Kellen Griffin. The joy of his life were his two grandsons Zebulun and Benjamin. He is also survived by his siblings and their spouses: Elizabeth Joan and Stephen Whitlock, Steve and Ginger Goforth, Shirley and Ricky Buckner, and Wanda and Charlie Morrow; brother’s in-law and spouses, Harold and Teresa Worley and Michael and Selina Worley; numerous nieces and nephews; his loyal uncle Jack Seay; a wonderful mother-in law Mary Lisenbee and special friend and brother in Christ, Ronnie Waldroup.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 13, 2018 in the Chapel of Madison Funeral Services with Reverends Kellen Griffin, Gary Fender, Ricky Ray and Danny Little officiating, and special speaker Ricky Seay. Pallbearers will be Andy Buckner, David Wheeler, Junior Hensley, Evert Rice, Chris Roberts, Spencer Blevins, Ricky Chandler and Stevie Whitlock. Honorary Pallbearers are Hartford Tweed, Herman Rice, David Holt, Jerry Angel, Ronnie Buckner, Jeremiah Buckner, Bobby and Sheila Hyatt. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with Austin Griffin officiating.

The Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 12th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Special Thanks to Dr. Marianna Daly, Dr. Bob, Jamie Snell, Sherry Chandler, Karen Cutshall and the entire staff at Elderberry, Ricky Ray, Missy Chandler, Jerry Angel, Berlin and Marie Fender, David Holt and Ginny Callaway, Melanie Morgan and staff of the Madison County Libraries, his church family from Big Laurel and North Fork, and numerous others. Above all we praise God for his Amazing Grace!
