Obituary for Jerry Lee Freeman

Jerry Lee Freeman, 69, of Hickory Flats Road, Marshall, went home to be with the Lord Friday, May 19, 2017.
Jerry was born April 18, 1948 in Montgomery County, NC to his late parents Sherman and Treva Allen Freeman.
Jerry spent his life serving God, his country, and his family. As a hobby he worked on old cars. He served his country with the US Army during the Vietnam War.
After serving his country Jerry followed his calling and became the Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Eldorado. He made the move to Madison County and went on to Pastor at California Creek Baptist Church in Mars Hill, Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Spring Creek, and then to Enon Baptist Church in Marshall. He had a passion for serving his community as well as the members of the congregation.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Jean Freeman.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda; children, Jill Bridges (Jody), Heather Freeman and John Freeman; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 in the Chapel of Madison Funeral Services with Reverend Buddy Freeman officiating where his life will be celebrated. We know that if heaven has vehicles he is driving around in a 37 Ford pick-up with his arm hanging out the window and stopping to speak to all friends and family that have made the trek before him.
A private committal service will be held at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with funeral honors given.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
