Obituary for James Robert (Jimmy) Thomas

James Robert (Jimmy) Thomas, 75, of Marshall, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 26, 2017.
Jimmy was born in Madison County on November 22, 1941. He worked for the State Department, became a carpenter, drove a truck for Norton & Ramsey and retired from Biltmore Estate after 15 years. He was also an avid farmer and gardener who loved to wagon train and show racking horses.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Marie Candler, step-father, John Candler, father, Boyd Thomas, sister, Patricia Ann Candler, and half-brother, Mike Thomas.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sandra Revis Thomas; brothers, Tommy Candler (Debbie) and Willard Candler (Betsy); sister in-law, Shirley Elkins (Fred); sister in-law, Marilyn Thomas; half-sister, Paulette Thomas; nephews, John Candler (Jodi), Nick Candler (Jaime) and Jeff Fisher; nieces, Emily Candler and Tracy Thomas; great nieces and nephews, Shelby Candler, Anna Candler, Grayson Kennedy and Griffin Kennedy.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 30, 2017 in the Chapel of Madison Funeral Services. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00. p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
