Obituary for James Monroe Haynie

James Monroe Haynie, 65, of Marshall, went home to be with the Lord Friday, February 17, 2017 while surrounded by his family.

James was born June 29, 1951 to his late parents, James and Inez Haynie. He was a plumber and member of Dry Branch Baptist Church. Not only was he an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his family, he was a huge supporter of the Atlanta Braves, Carolina Tarheels and Denver Broncos. He loved his daughters and grandchildren unconditionally.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Sexton and brother, Roland Haynie.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Ernestine Evans Haynie; daughters, Leslie Renae Self (John), Hayley Dawn Haynie and Karista Haynie Briggs (Mayson); grandchildren, Dakota, John Taylor, Marty and Ava Grace Self, Zeke and Shelby, Baby Briggs due in August; brother, Jerry Haynie (Barbara); several nieces and nephews; fishing buddies, Neil Chandler, Michael Frasure, Chris Rector and Brandon Ogle.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 19, 2017 in the Chapel of Madison Funeral Services with Pastor Randy Roberts and Dennis Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Freedom Christian Church Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be, Mitch West, JD Gosnell, Barney Norton, Monroe Mace and Earl Ramsey; acting pallbearers will be Neil Chandler, Chris Rector, Michael Frasure, Daniel Roberts, Binky and Brandon Ogle, John Taylor and Dakota Self.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the funeral home.

By now we are sure James is in heaven sitting on the bank with his best fishing buddy Kevin Ogle swapping stories and casting a line.
