Obituary for James Calvin Rhinehart, Jr.

James Calvin Rhinehart, Jr., 65, of Marshall completed his earthly journey on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 after a hard fought battle with cancer.
Calvin was born November 26, 1951 in Buncombe County. He was a 1970 graduate of Marshall High School where he was voted Most Athletic by his classmates. He served in the Vietnam War receiving the Bronze Star Medal along with several other honorable medals. Calvin retired from the United States Postal Service on December 1, 2006 having received Mid-Carolinas Recognition Award for 2006 and the One Million Mile Club Award for attaining 1,000,000 miles or 30 years of Safe Driving.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Herman and Lula Mae Searcy; father and mother-in-Law Ernest and Robbie Evans; brothers-in-law, Bernie Kanarr and James Haynie; and his beloved dog Flash.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 37 years Darlyne Evans Rhinehart; son and daughter-in-law Brett and Amber Rhinehart; daughter and son-in-law Candi and Dewan Gates; grandchildren, Layla and Cole Rhinehart, and Jordan and Maya Gates; parents Russell and Alma Wilson; sister, Debbie Kanarr; brothers-in-law, Cheyenne (Debbie) Evans, Marty (Cynthia) Evans and Forrest (Donna) Evans; Sisters-in-law, Ernestine Haynie, Marlene (Don) Frisby; very special aunt, Shirley Ogle; nieces: Monica Slagle, Angie Jenkins, Leslie Self, Hayley Haynie, Karista Briggs, Sheena Chandler and Victoria Tilson; nephews, Bobby Dean Rice and Shannon Evans; life-long friend Ricky McDevitt; and his dog Rudy.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June11, 2017 in the Chapel of Madison Funeral Services with Reverend Danny Jenkins, Reverend Buddy Freeman and Larry Leake officiating. Pallbearers will be: Tom Nix, David Nix, David Thomas, Jerry Plemmons, Larry Hughey, Ray Caldwell, Brian Farmer, Gary Ogle, Ricky McDevitt and Earl Ramsey. Honorary Pallbearers will be Naomi Sams, Marjorie List, Yvonne Anderson, Cynthia Chambers, Gail Fancher and the 1970 Marshall High School Tornadoes.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the funeral home.
