Obituary for Frederick Frank Goforth

Frederick Goforth, 85, of Lonesome Mountain Road, Marshall, went home to be with our Lord, March 12, 2017.

Frederick was born August 16, 1931 in Madison County to his late parents, Hubert and Marietta Goforth. He retired from Norfolk Southern after 43 years, was a lifelong farmer who truly loved his horses and was a member of Low Gap Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Lillie Chandler Goforth and three brothers, Flerdi, Wayne and Bob Goforth.

He is survived by his children, Elizabeth Jo Whitlock (Stephen) of Weaverville, Steve Goforth (Ginger), Shirley Buckner (Ricky), Keith Goforth (Peggy) and Wanda Morrow (Charlie), all of Marshall; grandchildren, Stevie, Traci, Don, Jeremiah, Shannon, Andy, Joshua, Sarah, Heather, Hannah and Heidi; great grandchildren, Brittney, Christian, Ashlee, Brandon, Jacob, Hayden, Colton, Laci, Lillie, Zebulun, Benjamin, Ian and baby girl Buckner due in July; great great grandchildren, Scarlette, Treydon, Nicholas and Marcella; sister-in-law, Wavel Seay (Jack) of Marshall; several nieces and nephews; and special friend Hartford Tweed.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 16, 2017 in the Chapel of Madison Funeral Services with Reverends Gary Fender, Kellen Griffin and Roger Boone officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 6 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
