Obituary for Charles Walter Bishop

Charles Walter Bishop, 82, of Marshall, NC passed away on Wed. Aug. 30, 2017 after a brief illness. Born on Sept 27th, 1934, he was the son of the late Walter & Virginia Simmons Bishop and was a life-long resident of Madison County.
He served in the US Army as a medic for two years and was stationed in Germany. Afterward he married the love of his life Yvonne Roberts Bishop on Feb. 6, 1960.
Charles was a barber by trade for 58 years, enjoying his job of serving several generations of customers both in Madison & Buncombe County. He retired from Beverly Hills Barber Shop in 2015.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Lloyd Bishop and sister Florence Rice.
Charles is survived by his wife of 57 years, Yvonne; daughter, Felicia Shelton (Roger) of Greeneville, TN; son, Randy Bishop (Robin) of Marshall; four loving granddaughters, Denise Shelton of Irmo, SC, Renee Neal (Matt) of Greeneville, TN, Sarah Bishop and Mary Bishop of Marshall; two precious great-grandchildren, to their "Papaw Charlie", Colton & Ryleigh Neal.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Madison Funeral Services, with a memorial service to follow at 4:00 p.m. with the Reverend Raymond Cantrell officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association at: American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, 4217 Park Place Ct. Glen Allen, VA 23060-9979, in Charles' name.
