Obituary for Charles "Tubby" Deaver

Charles “Tubby” Deaver, 83, of Marshall, went home to be with the Lord Monday, May 7, 2018.
Tubby was born October 29, 1934 to his late adoptive parents, JR “Dube” and Mamie Deaver. He proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War, was a founding member of the Woodhaven Volunteer Fire Department and had retired from Allied Chemical.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Liza Deaver; sister, Marie Ledford; brother, Clarence “Red” Deaver and daughter in-law, Sherri Deaver.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Wanda Payne Deaver; four children: Charles James Deaver (Denise), John Howard Deaver, Clyde Keith Deaver and Karen Jean Penland (Mike); eight grandchildren: Nathan Deaver, Joshua Deaver (Megan), John Brandon Deaver, Charlene Deaver, Alex Penland, Jessie Deaver, Alan Penland and Roque Penland; four sisters: Doris Allison, Joyce Thomas, Judy Payne and Janice Chandler; and special sister in-law, Dollie Payne.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 11, 2018, with Rev. Stanley Peek, Rev. Dr. Buddy Freeman and Pastor Jimmy Dean Hensley officiating. Pallbearers will be Nathan Deaver, Joshua Deaver, John Brandon Deaver, Steve Adams, Jim Marchese, Steve Shipley, Jack Prince and Greg Payne. Interment will follow at Kirk Payne Cemetery in the Paw Paw Community of Madison County.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 10th.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the medical personnel that gave continuing care throughout the years of Tubby’s extended illnesses. A special “Thank You” to the Charles George VA Valor Hospice Staff and Dr. James McDonough and his staff.
