ASHEVILLE - Jack Dale Boone, of 15 Snelson Drive, passed away at the age of 89 on March 6th, 2010.

A native and life long resident of Madison and Buncombe Counties, he was retired after working 32 years as a dairy farmer. He was a son of the late Lewis and Maude Presnell Boone of Grapevine and the husband of the late Gladys Gosnell Boone. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Boone and a step-son, Granval Thomas.

Jack was born Sept. 10th, 1920. He served his country in the 100th Second Infantry Division of the US Army during WWII. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he was also well known and respected in the community. He will be remembered by his gentle spirit, generous nature and dedicated work. All who knew him and loved him will miss him greatly.

He is survived by: his loving wife who has faithfully stood by his side for 13 years, Louise Thomas Boone of the home; one son, Stanley Boone; two grandchildren, Scottie and Amanda Boone; two stepdaughters, Patsy Thomas King of Leicester and Jean Thomas Middleton of Sylva; step grandchildren, Woody and Pam Middleton of Sylva, Frank Thomas, Jr. of Hickory, Patty Stafford of Burnsville; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne Boone and Ernest Boone and wife Juanita of Marshall; sisters, Bonnie Gosnell of Marshall, Bethel Ammons and husband Hal of Weaverville, Birma Sawyer and husband Jim of Swannanoa, Bertie Sams and husband Glen of Asheville and Beulah Brown of Shelby.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Madison Funeral Home conducted by the Revs. David Plemmons and Ken Parker. Burial will follow in the Gosnell Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
