HOT SPRINGS – Spencer Lee Rollins, 78, of the Meadow Fork Community, Hot Springs, passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2010.
Beloved father, grandfather and brother, Mr. Rollins was born Nov. 18, 1931 in Madison County where he had lived and farmed all of his life. He retired from the U. S. Forest Service in 1994 and had previously worked for the Madison County Sheriff Dept. in the 1960’s. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Spencer was preceded in death by his parents, Isham and Minnie Suttles Rollins; sister, Cecil Ingle and brothers, Burley and Ed Rollins.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Ward Rollins; son, Curtis Rollins (Sandra) of Spring Creek; daughter, Vickie Goforth (Jeff); grandsons, Jason Goforth (Dana), Russell Goforth (Angel) and Billy Rollins; great grandchildren, Kolby, Riley and Caleb; brothers, Charles Rollins (Delzie) of Spring Creek, Robert Rollins (Georgiana) of Asheville, George Rollins (Lucille) of Spring Creek, and J. D. Rollins (Vickie) of Leicester; special family member, Jimmy Goforth and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 7, 2010 in the Chapel of Madison Funeral Home with the Reverends David Jones and Scott Dotson officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday.
Military Graveside Rites will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, March 8, 2010 in Ebbs Cemetery in Meadow Fork, conducted by the Mars Hill VFW Post # 5483.
