Doris E. Ray, 67, of Jupiter Road went home to be with the Lord on Saturday February 27, 2010 at her home. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Ray was a native of Madison County but had lived in Buncombe County for the past 38 years. Mrs. Ray retired from Mills Manufacturing Co. in 2004 and was a member of Mount Zion FWB Church.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother Patterson and Nettie McDevitt Chandler; her husband, James Ray, Sr.; sisters, Lillie Goforth, Odessa Bullman, and brothers, Claude Chandler, Clinton Chandler, Clifford Chandler and Clarence Chandler.
Surviving are her son, James R. Ray Jr. of Weaverville, daughter, Sharon Rees and her husband, Brad, of Weaverville; grandson, Logan Ray; two granddaughters, Jackie and Jennifer Watts, and a sister Wavel Seay of Marshall.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, at Mount Zion FWB Church. The Reverends Sherman Tweed and Bud Marlor will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Madison Funeral Home and at other times will be at the home.
