HOT SPRINGS – Mary Ellen Wood Woody, 67, of Hot Springs, died on Tuesday, January 19th, 2010.

Mary Ellen was born March 2, 1942 in Transylvania County and had been a resident of Madison County since she was 4 years old. She was a homemaker and attended Fairview United Methodist Church. Mary is the daughter of Annie Goode Wood of Hot Springs and the late Henry C. Wood. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her sisters, Florence Cook and Opal Huskey; and brothers, John Henry Wood, Paul Henry Wood, Joseph Henry Wood and infant brothers, Robert and Willard Wood.

In addition to her mother, Mary is survived by her husband of 45 years, Garland Woody of the home; daughters Tina Woody of Weaverville, Connie Coker and husband, Jimmy of Travelers Rest, SC, and Karen Choate of Hydro, Okla.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth Ownbey, Iris and Loren Moore, Pat and David West, Betty and Larry Holt, Carolyn and Harold Ammons and Abby and Johnny Norton; brother and sister-in-law, H.C. and Barbara Wood of Hot Springs; three grandchildren, Hannah Woody, Robyn Choate, and Kiley Ives; great grandchildren, Kalie, Kelie and Layton Choate, and Latrisha and Dallas Ives. She is also “Mimi” to numerous nieces, nephews; great nieces and great nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 24th, in Fairview United Methodist Church with the Reverend Randy Wood officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday at Madison Funeral Home.
